    Hey guys and gals!

I'd heard there was a new forum for the 'Toba folks, and finally found out what it was (from a post on the Alberta fishing forum, of all places!) so I'm glad to be here!!

Pinawa born and raised (grew up with RobM and CraigM), cabin at Victoria Beach, school at Brandon U/ACC, then Dauphin for 4 years, then Morden/Winkler for a couple, now out in AB, just south of Red Deer, where the fishing is just awful. Lotta reservoirs they call "Lakes" and creeks/streams that they call "Rivers".

The girlfriend and I try to fish as much as we can (both hard and open water!) but it's so different from back home. Get home a few times a year and fish every second we can.

Glad to be a part of the new community!

    Welcome Poppa.

That's pretty rough for fisher folks to go from this area to AB. Way less water and very limited species

It's just brutal and I still have a hard time understanding it. I'm in the worst place too. Completely land locked on the corridor between Edmonton and Calgary with little to no water. Anything in this area has tiny 10" trout in it. So lame. Walleye are so scarce they have a provincial tag program that you have to apply for if you want to keep any. North of Edmonton not bad, and South of Calgary there's some reservoirs that aren't terrible, but coming from Pinawa/Whiteshell and our cabin on Big Windy..... It's shocking how bad the fishing is.

We don't see much around these parts...Grizzlies occasionally, just west of town. That's a little different, but for the most part, on the corridor between Edmonton/Calgary, it's pretty similar to MB. Deer, Moose, etc....

Hi. My son lives in Olds. Planing a quad trip west of Sundre Alberta. I think it's Limestone mountain. Going in July camping in a Glad bag. " tent" for Grizzlies any advice for that area. Thanks

I am probably not the right person to ask for advice on preparing for Grizzlies out in "the West Country". I've only been in Olds for the last 9 years, and have never gone camping out there. I think it's similar to camping in Manitoba back-country. Keep the food away from you, and don't do anything else that might attract 'em. Make lots of noise when you're travelling through the bush. Carry bear spray, and if you're the gun type...that's probably not a bad idea either. They are huge...and dangerous!
