One thing I picked up on YouTube was how important it was to be pencil straight!!

It is with every soft plastic, especially swimbaits....if it's hooked like a banana you may as well chuck it and start over

This is another good reason to pre rig at home etc, the Z-man is tough to rig perfectly straight and doing it under perfect conditions is preferable

must be my 10 lb leader I run .... total hack hey haha

I didnt have any breakoffs just lost one xrap to a rat pike this spring amazingly.... good year for tackle (But I also didn't fish shoal....). Just a new flouro leader each week, same jig (sharpened of course).

Some great comments on the look of the rig too, if its not arrow straight it's gotta be redone.

I also found that the fish like that horizontal presentation jigging waaaaaaaaaaay more so constantly find myself readjusting the knot after bites. Anyone have any knots that hold a bit better I'm using the ol palomar.

Try pinching it hard at the end and pulling it onto the bait keeper. It's amazing how quick and easy it works to get the baits on minty
