    In the market for a propane hose for my hunting buddy. I'm absolutely sick and tired of burning 1 pounders when I'm in the blind. Am I stuck buying the Mr heater brand one or is there other options out there?

    ^^^ this. Metro uses a softer compound that is more flexible in the cold - same ones I had in the hunting blind

    Actually green line hose and fittings is a better choice than metro.

    After hearing all the glowing reviews from people about Metro, I’m pretty sure I’ll never spend a dime there...

    Yeah, I went in knowing what I was after, grabbed from bin, paid and left. No interactions other than that - on purpose...
    Haven't been back since as there are closer options for me
    Hate to see a local bizz not be successful, but... you gotta earn it imho.

    Does the propane flow better through the higher quality/more flexible hose? Or is it just more flexible so its easier to deal with?

    It’s more about the quality of the inside of the hose. The cheap hoses have a lining that flakes off, that’s why you need a filter with the shitty mr heater hoses. The lining gets into your heater and burns it out. Better quality hoses are more flexible and don’t flake off.

    So no filter then on the better hoses? I bet that will help with the flow when it cold

    A new hose has been on my list for awhile, I will check out green line when I get home

    I bought a hose from metro a few years ago. Quite disappointed with the flexibility as compared to my ctire one. Sold the metro one and bought another one from ctire out of the bbq department.

    If you buy one that is not a "buddy" brand you must ensure you use a filter. At least with the buddy brand you can read the package to see which units the various hoses are compatible with and spare yourself the added expense of a filter or get one from buddy with the filter attached.

    Not all Mr. Heater (or as you call them "Buddy" brand) can be used without a filter. In fact only two of all the hoses they make, the 6ft F273706 and 10ft 273704 that specifically list because of the special material a filter is not required, all their other Buddy type hoses do. They do not sell a hose with the filter attached, filers need periodic replacement, would be pretty expensive replacing the whole thing every year or two.

    I used to use cheap hoses and filters all the time, smartened up and bough the Mr Heater hose that doesn't need a filter, several years now and no issues

    I have two of the Big Buddy heaters with their brand 5' hoses and neither require a filter either. I just looked on the package to see what units the hose was compatible with that didn't require a filter and grabbed them. Got enough metal shit in the ground blinds that can make noise without adding more that can be accidentally tapped on and alert an incoming deer! Lol
    For ice fishing no biggie. I set the bottle outside the tent anyways and run the hose through the hose slot in the wall.

    Ya, they fit the model but only the hoses in packages that say "no filter required" on the front are plasterer free and are meant to be used without a filter.

    So what about the Oil this guy talks about in his video?

    I'd like a more flexible hose for when it's -30 but can't say I need it as the hose I have works well enough.

    I’d read elsewhere that 20 lb refillable propane tanks tend to have more contaminants/dirt than the 1 lb tanks, making a filter a necessity.

    Any truth to this?

    You can tell right in the store if it’s flexible or gonna be junk in the cold..
    Ive snapped a shitty hose in 2 pieces , on a -30 day ... 3/4 roll of electrical taped together and ran the heater all day.
