Anyone have a recommendation or a deadstick they want to get rid of? Would prefer 36 inch minimum mostly for lw or the red

36 medium quantum solid carbon....... you don’t need anything more..... well, maybe a little talent but the rod is everything you could ever ask for in a greenback rod lol

I'm talented at loosing big fish at the hole this weekend. I like deadsticks that have a soft tip so Id have to take a look at the quantams. Thinking of picking one up for the gf to use as a spoon rod thou.

You were talking those up last year, so when I broke one of my Elite techs I bought one, fantastic rod I like it more than the Elite techs I have.

they really are a great rod, super durable (I usually have 6-8 rods with me in truck or on sled, I don’t own a rod case lol), and they perform perfectly for a multitude of fish!!! MH for rattle baits and experienced anglers with spoons, M for spoons and more subtle tactics- like dead sticks- and perfect for less experienced anglers because the soft smooth bend of the rod makes it easy to keep fish pinned...

@Little Spoon, easiest way not to lose fish at the hole is to slow down and not panic... Seriously, slow down and don’t try to force it... stand up, look down the hole (it’s early you can see em fighting), keep your line centred in the hole and just let her pump while keeping the rod bent... she will come up...

Honestly I'm not sure what I did wrong. I try and keep the bend in the rod and line in the middle. Sometimes shit happens I guess pretty sure when I was trying to get the head turned it was hitting the lure on the side of the hole. Didn't feel like I was rushing but the adrenaline was a flowing.

“Take your time” and “slow down” are repeated every single time I’m with a guest fighting a big fish...

You don’t want to be banging the fish into the ice, just let her head shake until she’s had enough and slides up the hole...

Yeah I try to keep it just below until I can turn the head but I guess the early season dust was still on live and learn and onto the next spot.

yeah the dreaded (usually front) hook caught on the bottom edge of the hole - accounts for many a lost fish! Biggest drawback of that style lure.
Replaced hooks one year and went up one or tw0 sizes - man, it sucked as I got caught way more on the ice - went back to OEM hooks

Well finding a combo in the city or a 36 medium is next to impossible so the gf ended up with a 42 mh and a diawa revros 2500. Thanks for the advice on rods guys

Smoke n fish has (had) some...

if you really wanna try one out, I could probably borrow you one to see the feel... a 42 MH isn’t a dead stick rod IMO...

Just bought two 36" M and two 42" MH from Cabelas. Last I checked they had the 36" M also available online.
