Stretching the topic a bit here, but what can I use as a power supply to the Lowrance head unit, to use in the house in getting used to it, inputting waypoints, etc? Elite 7 ti2 model. Thanks

Get another power cable and then use a 12 v battery.

I use "disconnect terminals" in the boat, same as what comes with your flashers and fits perfectly on stock SLA flasher batteries.

Using disconnect terminals means any power cable for my Lowrance units can be easily removed from the boat and connected to a flasher battery.

My bow unit, (HDS-7) is what goes on my snowmobile, with a shortened power cable that plugs in to disconnects on snomo. Cable just stays in the unit, whether its on the sled or on my lap or at the bow.

Google Search disconnect terminals Gord....or click around here. Been covered at least a dozen times.....or even easier, walk over to your flasher and look at the battery terminals and cable.

I buy disconnect terminals by the dozens, male and female. Build power boxes using butt splice and disc terms....super easy and no need to pay over a hundred dollars lol . Total cost is like 40 bucks for usb power box that I parallel 2 flasher batteries on. Cost of power box to power my HDS on the sled and on my lap.....I dunno..... 14 bucks?

Tapacock doesn't allow pics unless I pay......and I'd sooner chop my wang off and change my name to Sally, buy a home made power box for 160 than pay for premium.

Those connectors look like they do the job.

Gord, you have disconnect terminals in your own pic, right at the battery terminals.

However you connect your Lowrance to your snowmobile, there's no better advancement in fishing, than a detailed, accurate map.

Just make sure you fuse your connection, to protect the device(s).

I use those to connect everything that need plugging in. Waterproof and handy. I think it was @Dave who told me about them.

Those are stak-ons at the battery terminals. There are tons of different types, colours determine what wire size fits for the most part.

Gotta say it was sure nice having AEM this weekend made navigating/ knowing where I was extremely easy even when you couldn't see your hand in front of your face sure nice to have that little bit of peace of mind when you can trust your maps

Its game changing navigating with graph vs a handheld unit, especially when things get dicey out there!!! While it’s important to not be over confident, it’s hard with the GPS graphs available to us these days!!! I still carry my handheld with me on the sled and in the truck, but it’s pretty rare I turn it on, and that’s usually to look up an old waypoint.,. Couple that with the best mapping in the game and it’s a recipe for success!!!

If only the maps could make the fish cooperate some days lol. Had 3 GPSs with me this weekend. Haven't hit any more sandbars since I started paying attention to my maps either.

Why don’t you transfer those waypoints to Lowrance?
Send them to me and I’ll fix that up for ya. [IMG]

    Actually....

This may sound like shameless shilling, but I have used a map to find biters.

Not talking about ice fishing Lk Wpg, but Fall Smallmouth. On one type of specifically occurring structural element, I have found decent sized aggressive biters, where other structures they are uber negative.

Whether it's pre scouting on the couch or in the garage....or on-the-water decisions, there is no question whatsoever, that a high quality, super intuitive, easy to read high definition map, is the most valuable asset to an angler.

Yeah I was more referring to lake winnipeg with the fish comment. We used the AEM maps on shoal last fall and picked out a couple spots the night cause they looked fishy and sure enough they were. Sure a fun feeling when you look at a map and pick a spot and it pays off
