Worst stretch of the WPG river down stream of Pointe du Bois. Doesn't look so bad now using these maps, it is still a mine field

Here is Navionics Sonar Charts for a comparison. Needless to say AEM looks way more accurate and detailed.

Comparing AEM or Insight Genesis to Navionics is like comparing a Ferrari to a Malibu. I wonder how many soundings per km Navionics has on most waterbodies? I suspect Navionics generates a lot of their maps on old data that may or may not even have any basis in reality.

Navionics is a nice guideline and is good for a lot of hazards (certainly not all of them) but their actual contours are WAY out of whack in a lot of cases. There's been so many times where I've scoped out spots that looked good on the charts, but when I arrived, they were nothing like they looked like on Navionics.

Shipping Labels printed, chips will be mailed out tomorrow for those that have pre-ordered new 2016 chips. For those that are doing the pro-am upgrade, pay no heed to the email from Paypal/aem saying your order has shipped. I didn't realize an email would be sent if I marked the item as shipped....you still have to come to pro-am with your chip (obviously) so that we can update it! Cheers!

@craigm there is an option in your PayPal merchant services account where you can disable that email update being sent by default.

Is there a way of ordering without PayPal? I'd need 3 full catalogue chips

You do NOT need to have a Paypal account.

PayPal is simple what the boyz at AEM use as their payment gateway, aka... merchant service. They accept Credit cards.

Steve, as much as we'd love for you to order three chips....I just wanted to make sure you need 3: if you have multiple hds sonars on your boats, it is possible to share our charts (as well as other maps like navionics) using Ethernet. You can have our chip in one unit, and see the data. Not sure if this is your situation, but just wanted to throw it out there just in case. And yeah, like Ernie mentioned....you don't need a Paypal account to order from our website. All major credit cards work.

Should have said "have the chip in one unit and see the charts on the others".

I guess I'll hop on the bandwagon as well.. Then I wont have a choice, I've got to add another unit to the command centre. I'm thinking an hds9 beside the old trusty lcx110c

Hopefully Pro Am starts selling Lowrance units to run the AEM maps everyone is going there to buy or upgrade. They should get some in ASAP so we can upgrade our electronics while there for our maps...
