    I'm pretty sure it's 24s in there with this pic so not sure I'd Fit 3 27s even in there. But I will try when I finally get the boat out of storage.

    Those a certainly group 24's. The easiest solution as I see it is to relocate the charger to a compartment just ahead (and to either side) of where it's mounted currently, that looks like it would free up enough space so you would be able to fit three group 31's sized batteries in there. Batteries are 7" wide, looks like you'd have the room once the charger is out!

    Having the group of batteries next to each other makes it simple to connect in series using jumpers, use a hole saw to bore through the side of the compartment to run charger leads to the location, pretty simple fix IMO!

    Looks that way only because those are group 24'a in there, those are 10" long, 27's are 12" long and 31's are 13" long. He wants to go bigger than the 24's that are in there.........I'd venture to say that with the added length of 27's or 31's, the third battery will not fit the space (where the cords are) because of the added 2 or 3 inches in length.

    In all reality would an 18ft boat need 3 31’s? 3 27’s or even 24’s would be fine. Especially when a 24V with good batteries would do the job.

    47” retails near $4800 CAD, 60” for about $5100. Exchange rate plus conversion fee will be around 1.39. If it’s a 60”, he’ll save around $560 CAD after taxes.

    What about duty? I had heard there is some sort of calculation they do for used items to collect duty.

    Depends where it’s made. It’s classified as electronics, duty will apply to non nafta country electronics. After fuel and hotel, no savings.

    Lowrance products are typically made at their plant in Ensenada, MX. Assuming it’s made there, no duty applies. Just PST and GST.
