What caused you to try (or not be concerned with) mounting inline with a strake?

there’s a pocket around 30mph that’s not as good, I assume too low in water…

trying to get it as close to center line of boat as possible, keeps you in water and being behind the strake is the “smoothest” least turbulent flow off the transom…

That is with a standard 200/83 skimmer 2d ducer… I’ve been too lazy to tweak the 3 n 1, it performs great at high speed as well!!!

Not sure if it's the design of the Humminbird MSI transducer or if it's because it's running further back from the transom because of the stand off's, but I gave up on my boat! Have a buddy with a Lund Rebel XL, same transducer, can't get that one reading at speed either.

Only transducer I've never been able to tweak properly...I could get it reading at speed but would have a huge rooster tail coming off it, even tried one of those transducer splash shields for a bit! Best thing I did was install the high speed skimmer on the other side.

Cliff, I echo your words and experiences with the MSI transducer - after one MSI phuck-with session and no reading past 16-18km/hr no matter what i did with transducer, I just Y'd into the 2d chirp.

Sounds like it’s a ducer deal, probably never meant to be effective at high speeds perhaps?

I’ve tweaked my MSI transducer three times and it’s still shit, probably going to break down and go the Y splitter route.

My 3 in 1 and Airmar aren’t reading great at speed either but each tweak gets them a little better

I think I have a Y splitter. Took a whole bunch of bird wires out of my boat last yr. I’ll take a picture when I get home, also have a switch for the birds to switch ducers. Cliff would know better than I what was in the boat.

If you find that Y cable Gord I would take it off your hands, I think I’m just going to break down and go that route

Ok I’ll take a picture of it and send it to you. I’m not sure if it is a Y cable or not

No issues with the 2d chirp reading at speed? I see there’s also a non chirp version for my helix 12 G4

No issues with 2d at speed with the 2d dual frequency transducer - MEGA, very much a n0-go after any sort of speed.
I had to tweak it a bit when i got out east tho, for the really deep water.

No issues at all, runs perfect.

I installed the XNT 9 HW T dual spectrum CHIRP, set it up as I normally do, haven't touched it since.
