Based on what I have pieced together....Insight Planner was something produced by Fugawi for Navico (Lowrance). When Humminbird bought out NorthPort Systems from Toronto (Fugawi was owned by NorthPort) a few years ago, Lowrance's ability to improve the software was likely compromised. It was always a kind of clunky piece of software IMO, so I don't really blame Lowrance for not wanting to allocate effort to improve and try to distribute it. Honestly, I wonder why they don't just remove it from their website altogether. If you guys are interested in it still, I'll try to get some information from my contact at Lowrance....but IMO, our maps look much better when displayed on a Lowrance compared to Insight Planner.

Dogtooth is one that has crossed my mind. It’s got big fish, variety of species and is widely known as being treacherous and poorly charted so it qualifies in that regard. Problem is, I’m led to believe that not a lot of Kenora/NWO locals fish it due to proximity to LOTW which is understandable. I don’t hear about a whole lot of Tobans fishing it either, likely for the same reason (having to drive past LOTW to get there, might as well just fish LOTW). Is your buddy a Toban @ribbie ?

Yeah he is from Manitoba his parents have had a place out there for as long as I’ve known him. That makes complete sense too because the only time I hear people mention dogtooth is for canoe trips or rushing river.

Why don't you guys map lake Winnipeg??? I know a huge feat but you'd probably retire after and lowrance would probably give you free carbons for life or some shit.......... lmao

MacArthur there looks like a thumb print lol

The link @Gotaf7 posted earlier worked great for me. See no reason why it wouldn't work on a windows laptop if it worked on my desktop...

Since we're dabbling in discussion on future mapping projects....Have you guys considered doing any of the Winnipeg River from Kenora up to Minaki?

@ribbie - did you have to enter a Navico serial number? it prompts me for that and haven't been able to get it to work

Guys, I've emailed my contact at Navico to see (officially) what the deal is with regards to Insight Planner....

Re: Kenora to Minaki. Yep, its on the radar (a fairly large blip on the radar actually). Data collection has already begun....we may release a chunk next year. Will have to see how it goes.
