You can be my shithawk mentee Gord. We'll start the day by backing our rigs to the Buffalo Point launch, then leisurely prep our boats. After 45 minutes we'll get our boats in the water, but only after leaving beer cans on the dock first. We'll ignore the no-wake zone and speed through the harbour channel. Finding the fish will be easy, we'll just look for a cluster of boats and head in that direction (there's usually only one cluster because everyone shithawks there). We'll wait until we see a walleye being netted and immediately pull within 10' of that boat. If fishing is slow, we'll resort to mindless blather on channel 6 on the marine VHF radio. You must learn the following phrases for radio communication, "I got 5 in the box" and "You get those on worms or Shad Rappin'." We'll also spew random updates as to our fishing success throughout the day, and refer to each other by ridiculous radio nicknames. Littering is mandatory too, we're not to leave any garbage in the boats. We'll finish the day by filleting our catch of large females, and completely butcher the knife work in the filleting shack. We'll pester other anglers in the shack by demanding to know where they caught their fish, and spray the shit out of everyone with the garden hoses in our shambolic attempt at cleanup.

@Jneuf - Did I miss anything on Buffalo Bay shithawk etiquette?

Hahah, that's funny...but prob not really, cuz i have no doubt your account is accurate Glennie. I'll just have to take your word for it tho. Spent one day out there in my boat. Was too windy for most. Only 3 other boats out there. Came back to see about a dozen groups leaning on their boats and shaking their heads in disappointment at the conditions. Every single one of em asked me- "is it as bad as it looks?" ...GF couldn't even talk about it...she was holding in a puke. Poor gal. Myself and the boys wanted to stay out there. Fishing was fairly decent, just kinda random trolling around what "looked good" on Navionics (pre-AEM coverage) pulling Flicker Shads/Minnows. Same hot bait on Lk Wpg was the hot bait on BB.

It wasn't even that windy, but it was rolling pretty good. Very similar to fishing Lk Wpg. (not with your stupid augers :p )

I know you're kidding Gord, about shithawking, but honestly, with AEM, there's no excuse to shithawk.....unless you just wanna fit-in out there I guess hehe

"Shad Rappin'" just kills me every time!

I think you pretty much nailed it...only thing you left out was going back out for another limit after filleting your first one. But I trust you meant to include that.

Buffalo is a fun spot to troll cranks, and fishing is productive most times with very few snags. A lot of massive pike get caught by accident too. I find I get bigger fish on minnow profile baits there. When I do use shad styles the Live Target Shad is killer. Jointed Rapala Shad's are great too at times, Flickers get a lot of use there too. The wind is the big X-factor though as it can kick the living shit out of you in a hurry. There's also a lake effect that pulls winds from the east which makes things shitty a lot of days.

The lack of etiquette at Buffalo is infuriating, the shithawk tale is entirely based on my experiences there. It's to the point where I rarely go there on a weekend anymore. Shithawks, litterers, drunks, citiots, meathogs, and assholes are everywhere on weekends. One day I had d*ckheads pass me in the no-wake harbour channel on my way out to the lake, and that same day I met a boat on my way in tossing cans out of a MB marked Bayliner. Friends of mine who were out that day saw another MB marked Bayliner full of drunks blasting rap music pull up to the launch bay and park with the engine running (and tying up a launch space). They did this to buy more beer at the marina. It's frustrating seeing the lake treated like a weekend whore.

.....Walleye guys :p ...kidding, not kidding. The lake treated like a weekend whore. That's pretty bang-on. Only a toban would think a Bayliner is a fishing boat

Oh boy....boat ramp ridiculousness is coming fellas!

Got my PF order yesterday. It included 15 Flicker Shads/Flicker Minnows.....every single one in the same color-- "Big Windy Smash n' Grab"

Another big chunk of Shoal is being released for 2019! Our coverage for Shoal now totals 75.1 km2 - to put that in perspective, the 16 lakes we have mapped in the Whiteshell add up to 99.4 km2.

Here is a little something we put together to show content additions over time....

It's a phenomenal lake for quite a few species.

Not off hand, but suspect it would be similar to LDB....which was >6,000 km.

FYI potato islands are not part of this release. New coverage ends just to the north. There’s some scary stuff in said area just to the north that I’m sure will produce though...
