How many miles up river???

 

Love to see these mapped but probably close to a year to map each lake other than Barbe!

 

My intention wasn't to bash bird users. The only derogatory portion was possibly using the term "birdie-boosters", which I'll apologize for, since that has ruffled some feathers *ba-dum-psh*. I'll change the comment to a more respectable "bird-boosters". The point of my comments were toward live mapping, as opposed to Humminbird users vs Lowrance users-- ie: given the choice, using one's own time and resources to survey (live mapping) vs a pre-surveyed map, any brand-booster will choose the pre-surveyed map, and that has been proven by users of both brands....all brands actually. Anglers want pre-surveyed maps, generally speaking.

Bottom line-- competition is good for the consumer, regardless of what your fave plotter is. Competition is driving and helping fast track what the consumer wants, as far as coverage in mapping, and features in plotter brands. Lowrance was pressured by it's users to come up with live mapping, as Lowrance users heard Hummnbird users glowing about it. Same with Structure Scan/Side Imaging. Humminbird is likely getting pressured from their users on LiveSight/Livescope capability.....Humminbird users pressured Humminbird to start surveying as they saw AEM amp up coverage....vice versa. There's no need to be offended and sick of anything. It's literally, All. Good.

Live mapping is great and it's awesome tech, there's no question. It gives an option to anglers/boaters that frequent one waterbody, that isn't surveyed otherwise. I can't speak for everyone, but if I spend a total of 20 hours on one lake a season, I won't waste fishing time mapping it. Maybe a couple key spots, but that's it. I do like the option, but the love affair with live mapping, before I got it, has long expired. The realization it takes a TON of time and energy to make a complete, detailed map, that, imo, doesn't look all that great, caused the honeymoon phase with live mapping to be incredibly short-lived...like an hour actually. The tech didn't let me down, reality did. For a camp owner, without a surveyed map available in retail-- the obvious answer is-- map it yourself. And what an awesome option, truly. But it's really a pretty rare thing for the average angler to benefit like that from live mapping.

My biggest regret in how I attempted to make that point is that it was taken as a put down toward another brand. I could've (should have in hindsight) worded it differently so it didn't take away from, arguably, the biggest, hugest, wickedest announcement of coverage to date for Angler's Edge Mapping--- Lake of the Woods!

Further to that, and our current situation here--- do not despair AEM users! That map will be fished this season! I guarantee it. The Smallies, Walleye, Pike, Musky, Crappie and Lake Trout cannot hide, like we are from a bug. The tide is turning positive. I can feel it. Fish will be caught, using that map not too long from now.

 

'bout 15 to 20 minutes!!!!! I've been fishin' that river between the dam and up around Eagles' Nest and on into a bit of Ontario around Tetu for about 35 years!!!!!

I was actually kidding in my initial comment, I have no idea what specific spot you're talking about.....there's hundreds of spots like that all over that place.

I’ve been going out there and up the river for about 30, maybe 31 years now, I’m only 37 so a good chunk of that doesn’t count towards learning much but I do love it up there

 

Another chunk'o'new content for 2020 - the lower Manigotagan River, from the falls to the mouth of Lake Winnipeg.

Now make no mistake about it - you can absolutely CRUSH the Walleye here without any map, but this release will make this place a lot more fun and intuitive.

This will be added to both our Lake Winnipeg 2020 and Nopiming 2020 chips, as well as the Complete Catalog 2020 chip of course. We are on pace to start upgrading chips in late April! More details on this to follow as things are finalized....Covid-19 is posing a few complications, but we have a solid plan.

 

Never been there, I've heard a lot about it though. I think my cousin use to run the store around there.

 

Woods wasn’t the grande finale

been out fished like 10-1 jigging 30ft away from a family members boat full of 10 year olds catching the fish... in that river. Spot on a spot does matter sometimes. Was the wildest thing I’ve seen sitting there watching these kids reel em in lol

 

My wife’s favourite spot to go, we didn’t go last year because of low water, definitely going to get her back there this spring.

Co-sign with the statement- spot on spot is as valuable as most rivers.

It's a neat li'l river. Where Shield meets prairie murk-water. There's a couple nice Walleyes there. I know cuz a guy told me he caught one, and I caught one, one time.

If you like Walleye action...like the kind of action where you can't release and rebait fast enough (if using bait) because the action is that ridiculous, you'd have a blast.

Most guys think it's only eaters, but like any bite- timing is everything. Also, most are too content to stay close to the ramp or along the beach where it is mostly a crazy number of eaters.

That map will absolutely help anglers dial in the big fish, not just the numbers. And, like Craig said, it will also make it so much more fun and intuitive to fish on that map. Many times I've run wayyy too shallow, because a detailed accurate (purdy!) map did not exist.

 

So fun on cranks there!! Why rebait when you can just drop the crank back in!

 

Really gonna help my speed trolling there for sure!!!

I only use bait when I'm jigging on that lake and it's tribs. #7 Flicker Shad kills it around there in my experience. ...and fast, like Patty says.

When I used to use spinners there, I would use a Gulp leech. Rarely had to re-bait. The only time they seem to come off is while netting the fish.

That map will absolutely make trolling runs a complete pleasure.

 

Last time I was there I got bored pulling spinners so I tried something new, I tried ripping a jigging rap about 30 ft behind the boat, they liked it they really liked it!
