Make sure whatever you buy is compatible with 4G/LTE.

I've seen boosters work, but theres other things to consider than just reception.....especially on Bell's network on LOTW. Much of the issues there were caused by Bell purchasing MTS and the fact Bell was not aware that a good portion of Manitobans flock to the area on weekends and vacation.

In a nutshell, a lot of the reception/data issues are / were from routing traffic/roaming. Supposedly some or most of the traffic issues were fixed summer before last.

Also, MTS and Rogers had a contract to use the same towers and equipment....identical footprint for service areas. Fast forward to the BellMTS era and that contract was nullified and voided. .....Bell and Rogers are not pals. What that means is that if you have a Roger's phone and your service in NW Ont is not what it used to be, that's the most likely culprit.

Another thing to consider is- if during the week you have good service but once the local towns and area fill up with cell phone users your data service drops, a booster wont necessarily help you either. That again is a congestion/traffic issue at the wireless provider's end.

None of this may apply to why you want a booster, but it may help others reading this to understand why some areas the service is hit and miss. Much of it depends on how many people are using the same service as you are, and who clicked or called first. Also that's why you could be on one page or app and it's working great and then you click a different link or app requiring data and it tanks really slow......you just got bumped by other users and went to the back of the line when your phone made a new request.

If it's a simple situation where a tower is far away or theres a physical obstruction, then a booster should solve that, provided like Craig said, the booster is boosting every signal type available from your provider. The booster, tower and phone all need to be Xg compatible for a booster to work properly.

The best cellular boosters are the old ones that used to burn sturgeon in a boiler

Wouldn't mind being second in line.

Don't mean to hijack ya Neil. Been keeping an eye out for one as well.

Update: Finally got around to installing my solidRF cell booster. Went from zero/one bar mostly zero because of the metal siding to full bars in shop and guest house. Super pleased. It’s about 5x faster than my sat internet now.

This one here Gord. If you do grab this one and want a pole mount you will need additional hardware. I didn’t have so improvised using the 90 degree bracket provided fastened to a 3 inch thick block of wood that I angle cut on one end to match up with the direction I wanted to face. Nice and strong.

Do you just aim the outside antenna towards where you think nearest cell tower is? I’m in market for one. Live 35 min out of city and cell service is brutal in house and yard.

That’s exactly what you do No show. It has a very wide cone angle according to the instructions. I just used navionics from my phone to point it. The directional ones seem to work better according to the inter web.
