Cubdriver I know you're a northern Angler....but I'm not, and after seeing Clearwater Phase One, I totally know what you mean. I want to see more as well.

Never fished Clearwater, but by going by its layout, this map would live up to "game changer".

Theres some lakes you can imagine the bottom, just going by shoreline......Clearwater does not look like that kind of water.

I’ve only fished Clearwater a handful of times, and I’ve fished it with the help of local knowledge which helps a lot, but this map is going to open up a lot of new opportunities for people out there.

Clearwater is an absolute gem of a fishery. Drag your Pro Guide up there for a weekend next spring, @Mike B. ...you won’t be disappointed!

By the time Clearwater opens up, the Pro Guide will have dipped several times for my favorite time of the year-- AEM Bullheads! ....errrr AEM pre spawn Smallies!

I like my Lake Trout in Fall and Winter though!

In a perfect world I'd fish every Angler's Edge map, in reality, the southern parts of the 2 provinces keeps me busy and wanting more.....wanting more as in -- Shoal completion. ....one day that beast will be done, and itll be tough to peel me away from it before late June.

The thrill of Bass fishing just gets more intense every year.

Having said that, Winter is just starting....and i absolutely plan to punch holes for Lakers......just not so far north.

Here are a couple from our fall trip to Clearwater. The first day of Laker fishing was a bit slow on numbers so we went for Pike the next day and they were snapping:grinning:

    Nice Trout Dave

Do lake Trout close up north, or can a guy smash the living heck out of 'em in mid to late Oct during their spawn?

The west side of Clearwater is closed to all angling from mid Sep. to mid Oct. The east side is open for Lakers and everything else. I don’t have much history on Clearwater, about 6 years, but in talking with others with 30+ years, they think the management of the Lakers is going well. Kississing is open for Lakers all fall but the lake is huge with relatively little angling pressure.

The management seems to be working for sure (I'm just going by anecdotal 2nd hand evidence). The relatively low angling pressure seems like logical reasoning for letting the people fish em

Just as a heads up - we (Provincial Fisheries) will be partnering with the University of Winnipeg to conduct research on Lake Trout in both the South East and North West parts of the province.
We definitely do have concerns about stocks in most of our easily accessible Lake Trout Lakes. The research will be conducted over the course of several years and will be used to inform management of this species. Derek.

Some key fall structure just barely visible on the west side map, can’t wait for the east side. I fish allot of northern water but Clearwater is fairly new to me and definitely on the to do list shortly.
