A little mod I thought of to makes life a little more easier for those who store their shelters in a heated shop or garage. Just angle it over the shop drain and pull.

I might have to copy that.

Is that a kit or did you just drill a hole and put a boat plug in it?

would the plug fit from the inside?

I’ve thought about something like this before but some of the trails I take would pull that plug pretty quick I think

15/16 spade bit and $10 boat plug. You can put it in from the inside as well but then I would have to open it up and dig around to get at it. It sits about 2 inches off the ground with the runners and the molded slots. Pretty confident she’s not going anywhere as it’s almost impossible for anything to hit it. My trails would be the same bush whacking as yours I’m sure. Surprising how thick that tub is, guess that’s one reason it’s 100lbs. Now I don’t have to take everything out and dump it. Still have way too much snow getting in. Going to install the Chris Coward snow flap mod soon and if that doesn’t do it I will mod or get a proper cover with built in ratchet strap like I did with my boat cover. Just a shitty design, much like the pole locking mechanism. Hey let’s make a cold shelter where you need to have bare fingers the size of a small child to disengage the poles lol. Otter should of taken a note out of the clams design book on that one.

I crazy carpeted the fuck out of my hitch last week, it’s better now but some powder snow still gets in.
Thought I had pics on my phone, I will take a couple and post when I get home

I’m looking at options to snap or Velcro the cover to the front face of the tub, if I do that and replace the bungee with a heavier one with a pull I can’t tighten it a small ratchet strap I think it will be good.

My buddies Eskimo has grommets in the skirt to pin it down and I think I’m going to copy that and install some, would be nice on a windy day.

I also want to put some poppers or something similar on corners when the skirt meets the tub, it’s not always easy to keep the draft out

Keep us posted on the grommet idea. I see the issue being where the open side curves down, the cover is not going to follow that curve unless it’s pinned therefore leaving a slightly loose gap where stuff gets sucked in. They should of molded in a flare that runs the length of that indent where the seats sit on, that snd a slightly snugger fit could of done it. I tried solving the wind flap with some Velcro attachments but it failed after a few trips. Wouldn’t stick to the fabric, that being said I didn’t gorilla glue it just the adhesive from the Velcro.

Neil, that heavy shock cord I put in my old dilapidated cover snugged it up pretty good. Haven’t put any worthwhile rides on yet to confirm it’s better. The short ride to the honey hole there was significantly less snow then the previous time.

The Eskimo has a pull strap in the cover and the skirt goes all the way around, it frustrates my buddy because he can’t quite get the cover loose enough to get it on by himself if it’s windy and the skirt can slip out and he has a small tear in it on the back side.

proof positive that there is still no perfect design

I’m trying to distance myself from more bungees but what length worked? 2 months left of snow and there are going to be lots of wet rides in the near future.

The old bungee was no longer a bungee. Cover is 10+ years old, it’s thin, it’s stretched, it’s on its last legs lol.

When/if I replace it I’m going to see what a waterproof canvas one will cost.

Not sure how long it’s going to last but I have a plan to improve it when it’s time to replace the krazy carpets
