Last fall my EGO slider net broke landing a tank 31" walleye. I lost the net and threaded insert on the handle and repaired it with some parts from a buddy.
Fast forward to last week and I'm in Princess auto on Panet rd. and see Shur-line extension handles 29"-60" inch for $19 in surplus. Looks like these.

These are identical to EGO slider handles and the same length handle is $115 before taxes at the Fishinghole. If anyone needs a replacement handle for their net you can't even order the parts for this price.

They are similar but not identical. I bought a Shur-Line a few years back because the foam on my net was shredded and getting a replacement foam would have cost nearly the same to ship as what the Shur-Line sold for. Different threads on the end and the sliding poles are lighter on the Shur-Line. I ended up swapping the whole handle portion on.

I did a close comparison of the 2 handles and indeed the Shur-line and the EGO have a different threaded insert. I put them side by side and other than the internal shaft been painted black on EGO and unpainted aluminum I can't see any physical differences beside the difference in the threaded insert.
That said, it wouldn't be tough to drill out and switch the inserts from an old handle. The handles are made likely in the same factory. 20260210_153545.jpg 20260210_153618.jpg 20260210_153627.jpg

Now you've got me wondering if I saved the threaded piece from the broken net. I was going to put it into the Shur-Line and there was an issue with it. I was thinking too loose, which is why I said I thought the Ego was thicker. Maybe it was something to do with the internal design.

It's kind of shitty the EGO uses a proprietary threaded insert on the net. The markup on the EGO handle is ridiculous. I'm going to keep the Shur-line handle as a spare for $19. I might see if I can get another EGO insert.

I finally found the end insert from my old net handle to show the difference. Shur-Line on the left, Ego on the right. 20260216_134136.jpg
