Testing the waters here, What does everybody do with their Master Angler pins? Who would be interested in something nice to display them on? I have an idea in the works. Any interest? It would be the shape of Manitoba, cut from 3/4" wood with a spot to display each pin. Ballpark would be around $40

Same as above. I believe I'm only at about 2 MA's or maybe 3 so far. I don't even know what a MA is for most species, lol. Cool idea though for those that might keep track.

I don't apply for MA's but I think it's a good idea for those that are interested.

Only room for 30 pins, no more set aside for the other 5, bronze, silver, gold, etc. You may also want to have some room for the additional anniversary pins. I wouldn't buy it if is made out of wood or has a wood look. It would look like something out of the 70's. Just my 2 cents.

Not to misdirected traffic, but I think if you asked this question over on the other forum you might get the results your looking for... Most of us could give two shits about the master angler program, and that's not a fish snob comment, it's just where most of us are at with fishing...

Personally, I think it'd look cool in wood....maybe Manitoba Maple? I would give it a long thought for getting one for my daughter

I don't doubt there is a bunch of people interested, I'm just saying on CFF there isn't as likely to be as many as say MFF...

Remember up until this year, the program had zero credibility, until they introduced the bump board rule...

I've said before it's a great program for kids, and for lodges and outfitters, it fades pretty quick for me after that.... it's a piece of paper and a tin badge... remember this is my opinion of it, I'm not bashing those who choose to participate, just saying that it's not really for those of us who don't need the gratification of the program...

This discussion goes round and round every time someone brings up the program. I just think its funny that the people who don't participate are the most vocal about sharing the fact they don't participate and feel the program is for
    .

    BTW it's not for
as you state, but the Challenge to catch trophy fish in 30 different Species, many of which require different techniques, equipment and presentations that most species anglers are not familiar with.

Oh and to your original point:
Have a look at the Master Angler Top 100 List
There are more than half of the people on there which read this forum, as that's just the tip of the iceberg! ;)

Okay, I guess I'll go there....

Umm yeah the program is 100% a dick measuring contest, that until this year had absolutely no fucking credibility whatsoever... none... any idiot with a pen could get his master award without even leaving the couch... oh and this point isn't even arguable, so save the server space...

I do think the program is good for kids, they get rewarded for catching a good fish, and for lodges for advertising purposes....... knee lake vs utik is a perfect example of that....

Oh and this far, 76% don't want the plaque thing which is what this is about.... and what I said was that most of the guys here don't use the program (sorry but if your a lurker you don't count imo) and that he would be better off asking over on Mff because those guys tend to need the gratification that comes with the certificate....

Furthermore, if travel manitoba wants to completely legitimize the program, erase ALL records prior to 2017 and start all over so that there is credibilty to it.... oh and before you come back with it's unfair, 90% of the guests that I had to explain the rules to this year, completely agreed with my points and my thoughts on that... bump board or it doesn't count.......

@Mike R apologies for the derailment!!! Again I think the craftsmanship etc is probably on point for display of the badges, just don't think your gonna sell more than 5 or 6 on here, most of us holier than thou (apparently) guys don't use the program to measure our success... good luck, there is a market for it I'm sure...

Lets just keep the thread on the topic for what the OP asked for. I don't think this was meant for "do you like or dislike, agree or disagree with the program". After all, it's only fair to the OP.

We'll I have held back on this for a couple reasons. .I maid my own plaque out of (maple )..several years ago. .and I do think you can sell some of yours. ..

I have been part of the program for ..35 plus years. .and if I make another 35..I will still be part of it...I have sent in tape pictures /bump board for 20 years running. .

Patty ..I would like if they were to reset the program. .and start from scratch
.but I would bet almost anything that what you see in the top 25 ish ...right back to where they are today. ..I personally know more then 50 ish of them. .and getting 30 species. .and 5 of each. .is not as simple as some might think. .and you have to travel all around the province to accomplish it..

once again the program is not for everyone. .but the ones that do enjoy it should be able to...

just because one is in the top of the program. .does not mean I am the best angler around. ..I am.just a average angler no difference then anyone else hear. ...and the program has nothing to do with that. ...

op..I think you need to expand your plague ..as mentioned above..for speciality pins/anniversary. .but I like the idea of the province being shown. .
