that thing is a $650 add-on plus cost of flight... plus the cost of the chainsaw you may have or not have already... i'd just go with an Echo at that point.

That was exactly my thinking too. It's probably for the best I didn't notice a notification about this thread earlier - I would be in a shallow grave right now if I said "Oh honey, I got a great deal on this powerhead..."

Haha, yeah, that thing is a disaster....well, it might work, who knows...but it's so freaking expensive.

@Patty and I have been joking around for awhile about turning an old chainsaw into an auger. It may not be feasible, but it's fun to think about. The engine specs would make a perfect auger though....49cc, 3.5 hp and capable of ~14,000 rpm. It's light too.

    That's the spirit! Haha!

I'm pretty well convinced that most 50cc saw powerheads are of much higher quality than augers available to the average consumer. You can actually tune the carbs, and buy new pistons / cylinders should they ever wear out. I think I just got sick of stuff being largely disposable...

I cannot tell how much my 026 made me when I was younger and pruned trees on the side.
I just got it back this yr after having it in storage for 4 yrs. Got it tuned up and it works like a charm.
It bought me a Eagle sonar at Payless way back when. And kept my fishing addiction fed. Lol

That's the great thing about the "high end" augers, you can get internals and fix them, good luck getting a piston or a rod bearing out of Eskimo or SM, those are throw away powerheads, drive em till they die then throw em away...

Get that bad boy running bud, then we will have to come up with a mounting bracket, I think I got the drive figured out, just gotta decide how fast we want to spin it...

My buddy has a 10” Eski that he doesn’t use he told me to use it as he never does. Sounds like the carb may have to be rebuild. I took a small engine repair course last winter. Hopefully I remember how to do it. Lol

Pretty sure you just throw carb out and buy a new one - as Patty mentioned, disposible parts. If you fix, make sure you loc-tite the bolts holding the carb on!

pulled my TIA-305 out of the rafters yesterday and fired it up. ahhh yes, I sure love the sound of it... it just sounds so smooth compared to the throw away stuff.

i'm not sure i'll ever be able to get rid of it (kinda throws a loop into my EA-410 plan lol).
