Why not check and see if it's a simple ecu swap for this to be a 90??? Yammy powerhead is a good thing!!! Then your not ha hung more weight off the back and staying with a Yamaha powerhead...

Thanks for the offer, but I gotta pass right now...

I figure I would throw it out there just in case. The new 90 hps are lighter than the old ones so I would actually be lighter. I did look into a new ecu, they are a direct swap. Could also reprogram out of the US.

No sure if I can legally mount that bad boy on my hull... It's rated for 40 hp and I'm already at 50 hp. My boat would absolutely FLY with a 75...
What is the weight on it? I may be interested should my rig be written off.

Exceeding the recommended horsepower on a hull opens up all sorts of liability issues, just sayin'! It will be interesting if having a 50 on a boat where the max hp rating is 40 effects the way the insurance company will review your claim?

Doubt it. It's an 18 foot boat. Don't think the extra 10hp will have any effect on my claim. What's the extra speed in getting?? 3 or 4 mph maybe?

Your allowed 20%... or at least that is what I have been told by guys doing the rigging... Alumacrafts used to come rigged with a little higher power than rated too...

I don't know. All I know is exceeding the capacity plate is usually not a good situation.
