If it was a Lowrance running AEM I would say that's all he needs. :thumbsup1:

Yes I am. I had the 788 set up for gps but also connected a transducer to it also just incase the 898 went down or I clipped a ducer off the boat. Never happened. In fact the ducer that got clipped off the boat was this year and that was on the 788. This setup with the collapsing ram mount that fit everything into the electronics console was shown on a DVD produced by Dr Bruce Sampson. I need a unit or units that will fit on my existing collapsing ram mount but at the same time I would like to see the GPS better and the 788 was not doing that. Old eyes I suspect! So I bought the Helix 12. I may still try to mount a secondary transducer but at $250 just for a backup? Will a large split screen provide this , I guess I will find out. I don't do tournaments anymore but still think like I'm still doing it.

I'm on the fence as to what I want to do next spring. Get 2 Helix 9 or just one Helix 12

If I would have bought two Helix 9's or 2 10's that would have been too wide to fit into my electronics console. Kinda curious how the chirp will work on the 12.

Guess I would be in the same situation. Because I have a place at Lac du bonnet and I'm too lazy to go anywhere else I fish LDB and Pine Falls exclusively and A.E.M. doesn't have mapping for either. Plus there is a certian satisfaction of doing the mapping yourself after fishing areas for years by the seat of my pants and now being able to dissect those same areas.

AEM will have maps of LDB soon. Lee River, Pinawa Bay, Boggy Creek, Pinawa Channel, Poplar Bay, and Coppermine Bay are complete....will see how much else we can knock off this fall....but there will be some content on the 2017 release. I'm always torn with regards to about much to reveal about our plans/progress in case we can't follow through in a reasonable time frame. But LDB is one of our highest priorities, Buffalo bay is not being neglected either.

Don't worry about the hijack. It's keeping it at the top and the locators are getting way more interest than I thought I would get at this time of the year.

Seeing as mrwalleye5 is ok with the comments, its probably best to leave them as is. That ok with you CraigM?

Good deal on those units for someone that's looking for a great Huminbird setup. I'm surprised they're still available.

Anyone looking for a great SI unit, that 898 is it!!! If it weren't hunting season and I didn't have some major repairs to be completed on my boat this would be gone to the sold section already!!!
