I was at Pro Am Tackle today and they have Lowrance Elite 7 CHIRPs in stock and on sale for $600. I have both the HDS 9 gen 2 and the Elite 7 HDI and they are both awesome units. Was happy to see Pro Am stocking some Lowrance units.

If you're on the fence, buy now and regret later. They had these on a couple weeks ago and will switch to no inventory quickly.

What is the transducer for SS worth? That seems about the price of an Elite 7TI correct? Is the HDS that much of a better unit? I think it has more touch screen capabilities IIRC???

New Structure Scan transducer is $299 USD. HDS-9 Gen2Touch vs. Elite 7TI: HDS-9 has a bigger screen, dual card slots and ethernet port (Elite 7TI has wireless). Touch screen will be identical with Gen2Touch and Elite TI....it is the Gen3s have the improved version, but that wouldn't be a deciding factor for me personally.

I'm sold on the HDS models. Those units are unreal. I have an HDS Gen2 touch 9" and 12" side by side. Amazing what you can do with em.

The dual card slots is a plus. I doubt I would use the wireless feature on the TI unless someone wanted it on their phone at the front of the boat. That HDS 9 would compliment my Elite 9 nicely I'm thinking. Hmmmm. Oh wifey I need to pick something up.................................

What is a 1 year old HDS 7 or 8 worth without LSS ducers? $5-600 each?

I think 600 is tops, at least in my eyes. No LSS and no warranty. I could buy the HDS posted in this thread and have ful warranty and a bigger screen. I guess I'm just cheap, lol.

    If they're non touch I would say $700 and $800 respectively. Touch 7 $1000.

Without LSS transducer and no sidescan module, I would say $600 and 800. My buddy just paid $550 for an HDS-7 Gen1...but I broke it to him gently that he kinda god hosed on that deal. He loves the unit though, so maybe I should have said nothing!

Touch models can do CHIRP also, for what that is worth (I personally think downscan is more useful for resolving fish/features than CHRIP in most freshwater situations....but some people do seem to like CHIRP).

Maybe I don't understand my unit as much as I thought. I thought CHIRP was used for downscan?
