Well I ran into Ernie on the lake the yesterday and we got to talking and they encouraged me to join! So her I am!!
I’m Brad I’m from Manitoba and I love chasing masterangler size fish of any species summer or winter. My goal is to complete my specialist in all species someday. I’m also a diy guy I enjoy repairing, modifying or building my own equipment. I shoot for having the best budget setup out there!
I usually fish alone but if you see me out there feel free to stop say hi

Welcome to CFF! I like your style as it is mine too. If you figure out how to get 5 grayling on a low budget, would you mind sharing LOL.

    Welcome!

Have you been on Lee River with that set up this summer? I either saw you or a similar set up out there earlier this summer

Dang @Ernie I forgot all about you being here.
Hope you didn’t get run over by all the seadoos and pontoon boats.
I heard the RCMP were out patrolling, making sure the wake boats and such were not in our area. Pretty sure they gave out a lot of tickets.
    Well to CFF @Shipdisturber

I was home alone all weekend with the dogs but REALLY wanted to go check out hecla, so taking them was the only option! Haha they are an absolute handful in the boat both high energy dogs. But it was a crazy day I of fishing tons of big fish and numbers! Definitely can’t wait to go back! Glad I didn’t catch a true giant cuz my picture woulda looked like this!

Welcome Brad. It's good to see some new members here.

Unless you win a trip to the north or know someone with a lodge there's no such thing as Grayling on a budget.

Didn’t Glad Lake have grayling at one time?

Glad has been stocked with Arctic Char. No Grayling in there.

Yes I agree, but when I lived in Gillam we put canoes on the train and went north and fished a River. I am not sure of which one, as it was a long time ago and I was a guest. We caught Grayling and they seemed big. This was a budget trip but it would be way different now living down south and being 35 years older.

Interesting. I worked for Fisheries out of the Limestone generation station camp in the mid eighties when I was in University. We caught and tagged massive brookies but never heard about Grayling. Ken Kansas worked on some of the lower Nelson tributaries and might know.

Yes I caught a very big Brookie in Sky Pilot Creek. A little ashamed to say it now but it was very tasty.

@Thane did you do any work with Brookies involving a RF tag of some sort? The same day my coworker caught a big one that had a tag about the size of a small pill bottle IIRC. Also if I remember correctly, somebody came to his house to find it.

Yes I was in the same study group. I think Ken was involved with most the RF tagging. Where was the RF tagged fish caught? Sky Pilot creek? I did a lot of the floy tagging and sampling at Moondance creek, the Limestone river and some of it's tributaries.

Yes in Sky Pilot somewhere in this area in the fall of 1986 (maybe 1985 or 1987)).
