As the name implies, I'm from Saskatchewan, however I do most of my fishing in the Parkland region of Manitoba.

I've been a member of all the local fishing forums in the past 12+ years to some extent, though there hasn't been any in recent years that I've found worthy of my presence until this one (so don't screw it up).

These are some of the key points you'll need to know about me, or else it gets a bit weird.

    - I'm primarily a fly fisher, however I have no qualms about using bait for species which don't readily take a fly.
    - I enjoy fishing for all species of fish, though walleye definitely the least.
    - I do ice fish, but it's out of necessity and desperation. If you actually look forward to the water freezing each and every year, we have nothing in common.
    - I haven't used a pickerel rig in like 17 years.
    - I'm not actually as much of a dick as my online persona may seem to depict. Hopefully some of the guys here that I've met and fished with can attest to this. :)

I guess I can start posting any time now...

Welcome SK Justin, a telented 'out of the box' Angler who definitely actually fishes!

Looks like you're holding a nice Permit in that photo? They're on my to-do list.

    Thank you sir!

I wasn't so fortunate to land a permit. The fish in my avatar is actually a "horse-eye jack", and I'm sure that locally it probably ranks about as high as a freshwater drum does in Manitoba, but to me it was representative of something much more (I tend to always see the best in fish). It was a new species of fish for me, caught completely on my own and out of my element, from a spot that I found on Google Earth only a few minutes walk from where we were staying. I was free-lining a live mojarra that I had caught hook & line earlier, when my baitrunner began melting off line like no Manitoba swamp donkey could ever hope of. It didn't matter what color or shape of fish was on the other end, that feeling of true unknown is something that is just difficult to achieve anymore back home.

Anyways, that about sums it up. Tarpon are cool too. ;)
