Fuel bill and truck repairs getting out of hand.

If anyone knows of an inexpensive gas sipper 4 banger, in the range of $3500 or less, please met me know.

Preferably a Toyota or Pontiac Vibe

    Thanks

IMO it's hard to beat the Pontiac Sunfire 4 door for a run-around car. 30 miles to the gallon and parts are very affordable. The 2 door models are substantially more to insure that's why I suggest the 4 door model.

Not me but I have a line on one. As soon as I get the details (pics, price, etc.) I'll send them in a PM.

We have a Colorado at work that I take up to The Pas quite often. I usually get 10-12 litres per 100 km on average weather wind dependent of coarse with even as low as 9. Mind you this is hwy miles but fill up in The Pas and drive all way back to downtown wpg with no fuel light on yet but probably getting close to coming on. Mid 600km those trips are.

Honestly your choices are good but you also can't go wrong with a Honda civic. I retired one 2002 with 4oooookm after a deer hit by my son. That engine still never even used any oil and it was amazing on fuel. My 2012 Civic sedan 5 speed will average around 5.6-5.8 litre/100km on the hwy in summer and around 6.8 combined city hwy. Probably could drive to Kenora and back on $25. I've had the domestic 4 banger cars and Honda's or Toyota's are way better cars mechanically. Haven't touched the rear brakes on my Civic with almost 200000km and they're just getting to the point I'd think about replacing them. Pretty much just spark plugs and fluids I've replaced since new. The 2002 was pretty much the same. Great on fuel and reliable as hell. They sell for more used than domestics but there's a reason for that. Honda Civics were made in Canada and parts I find are no more costly than the of GM, Ford or Dodge.

Yup I’ll be looking for a civic or similar fuel efficient ride sooner rather than later.... although I’m gonna take a real hard look at a 1/2 ton with a power stroke too...

One thing I found I liked better about my Civic sedans over the Corolla was the flat floor in the back seats. The Corolla's had a hump in the center so not so good for the person in the middle. Otherwise both are great reliable fuel sippers

I was going to suggest a used Civic or old CRV as well. It’s almost as though Honda over-engineered the drivetrains on those things. I’ve heard of countless examples that’ve gone north of 400K with not much more than basic maintenance.

Before you guys get to excited, I said "In a pinch" I could tow my boat or sled trailer, still have my 3/4 ton for real towing lol,I use a 2019 Polaris Ranger at the lake to launch my boat so no prob with the Colorado either but getting it there its the 3/4 ton for sure,2.5 liter 4 cyl 746 km per tank @clawj ,we are talking fuel sipping vehicles here guys and I needed a AWD or 4x4 4cyl for daily commuting and this truck is perfect for me,way more versatile than a fuckin civic or corolla in my world.
