I bought this model 500 phone around 15 years ago in anticipation of a terrific argument culminating in a break up. It seemed to me that if you knew you were bound to be a participant in that sort of thing, it would be a lot more fun to grip a reciever while arguing into it and then be rewarded with a little jingling sound when you hung up. It was much more satisfying than pressing a button and hearing an electronic "boop!" If you ever need a phone for bad calls, it doesn't get better than this one.

After that, it was retired to use in my garage, where its loud bell could be heard above the sound of a compressor.

There is a little chip out of its base from when a kitten tried to jump through the narrow phone table it once sat on. Otherwise, it's in good, clean working shape.

Oh it sure was a fun way to go out. I may have made the situation worse by having the phone lol. To quote the great Mary Poppins, "in every job that must be done, there is an element of fun! Find the fun and there's the game!" and let me tell you, that relationship was a real job, haha

Although @Gord this one doesn't have to be cranked up to work, so maybe you are thinking of a different model...? ;)
