On this round of little spoons stupid questions finally getting around to installing my finder mount on the console should I be worried about reinforcing on the under side of my console or do flat washers do the trick? Last thing I want while on the lake is the mount to fall out

Yes, start dropping it about a 1/8” till you get it in the right spot.

Ok. Fairly finicky to dial that one in, but it can be done. I get excellent readings with mine at 57 km/h (top speed), @Patty gets great readings at 50 mph.....the key for both of us (both Lund IPS-2 hulls I believe) was mounting it exactly where everything you read tells you not to....directly behind a strake.

Yeah that’s not gonna work at high speeds…….

closer to center, essentially within 12-16”, left side… kinda lime where the last guy had one mounted… start about 1/8” below the pad of the boat…

Tell your buddy you want your $$ back.

Patty’s suggestion for a spot is a good start. Where your board is currently mounted really limits how much you can actually adjust that thing.

Only a few beers were exchanged. Guess I'm gonna be drilling more holes in the boat.

That ducer seems to be a good half inch to high.

The placement is doable, not optimal, but if it was my boat I'd try to make it work rather then drill more holes. But it definitely needs to come down some more.

You could just pick up a cheap 2d to run at speed and leave the 3 in 1 as is where it is

Okay I was being nice and didn’t say anything about the board, cuz I wasn’t sure if it was someone here or not… but that’s terrible placement for “at speed” performance… Did he realize you have a 50+mph rig???

leave that board there, mount one low following the pad of the hill on the other side… move the ducer over to there…

your 3 in 1 will work great at speed (better than any other ducer I’ve run) once you get it tweaked..

I’m guiding today I’ll take a pic of my mounting before I leave if I remember…

Yikes.........I guess regardless of who installed that board, it's poorly positioned to facilitate good 'ducer mounting choices/positions. I have never seen one mounted that didn't follow the "V", maybe your buddy has only experienced mounting on flat bottom boats! To me it seems only 1/3rd of the board would be in anyway useable. Not sure why the previous location wasn't used, seems to be properly placed and the mounting holes were already in the transom, so no worse for wear.

Not sure if there is enough adjustment left in the slots of the mounting bracket (where it's currently mounted to the board) to get it low enough for hi speed readings. Probably need to rethink the whole set up.

Why not get another board, custom cut to fit beneath the that one? Or move the 'ducer more to the starboard edge of the board?

I've never really been concerned with mounting right to transom, if done right, no concerns. But I really like my current set up with the mounting brackets already welded to the transom by the manufacturer.

^^^^ that’s a slick set up, should be standard from all manufacturers on fishing boats.

Note, I could probably move closer to centreline but ran out of board… make sure you have plenty to work with!!!
