It's free fishing weekend June 8-9. You don't even need a license to keep a limit of Manitoba muskies this weekend.

So long as no one finds my honey hole on the Red for marlins, I'm happy.

Marlin are delicious when smoked, and make great catfish bait. I’m sure there’s more, they haven’t reduced the limit yet. The outfitter who charges people to follow him on the ice said there’s lots left. For $500, he said he can show me the marlin spots he owns.

I’m going after walleye. It turns out I’ve been catching pickerel all these years. Is there such a thing as a walleye rig?

I gotta say tho, this fella in the pic that doesn't know his species, holds a fish way better than 80% of the bank fishermen on the Red. So many goobers think a proper gill PLATE hold or vertical hold of ANY species is instant death......

I can't stop laughing at a comment on fbook of a guy with some serious porkchoppy sideburns, wearing gloves, holding a big Drum, absolutely COVERED in mud and crap, to the point of it being almost unrecognizeable, and one guy said-- "What did you catch it with, a shovel?" Bahahahahahahahahah!!! Man did I laugh at that. Awesome comment

I checked the local tackle shops for you since the majority of tackle in them here is geared to the bank fishermen on the NSR but all I found was two kinds of pickerel rigs(cheap & expensive) and sturgeon rigs which were hand tied expensive versions of pickerel rigs with 5/0 hooks. Sorry not one walleye rig to be found. Walleye must be very rare if they don't carry walleye rigs?
