Anyone have a recommendation on how to get this to stop sticking in the tounge of the trailer in the up position?

    As above.
If it were me, not knowing its age and such, I would simply replace. A shop could replace the guts in mere minutes.
    Remember using oil/grease collects dust.

Ya, that anti-ceaze is great but gets everywhere....not sure I'd use it on a coupler/ball for that exact reason.

If It was just a lubrication thing would I be able to move the lever with ease. The lever/ lock on top moves no problem is the coupler under neath that is sticking.

Sounds like the coupler was damaged or a slight crease or ding. Happens if over corrected/jackknifed.

You may be better off just replacing the coupler. Easy if it’s just a bolt on, little more fun if welded.

Looks like it's rubbing especially in the green circles. Take a big flat head screwdriver and try to wedge it in there. Worth a shot IMO. If it comes off you can gently hammer it but that can be iffy.

Looks like it is a bolt on. Might just be easiest to replace.

Yes for sure, but I always try to fix before I replace. If you wreck it’s going to be replaced anyway. Lol

What size hitch is it? I've seem quite a few time where guys force an 1 ⅞" hitch onto a 2" ball. Then that happens. I suggest just replace it with a 2" hitch. This one will always give you issues.

If it's a bolt on, replace it, adjust it and be done with it!

Most 2” hitches will work 1 7/8” or 2” depending on set up, pretty simple to adjust to fit, and something that everyone should be doing… At the very least checking to make sure that it’s adjusted properly, as it’s a steel on steel part that does wear!!!

    ^^^^ This^^^^ It's a wearable part that's cheap and easy to replace.

A small dab of grease on the hitch ball can help if it's sticking a bit too.

Didn't realize how cheap it was to replace definitely going to be doing that.
