Was gonna put this in the electronics section, but I thought it's more a cool rod idea.

Abu has made the 1st rod with a built-in button, (on the butt-end) that can talk to your Lowrance plotter and mark a waypoint! Super cool idea!

I'd prefer a lanyard with one small, light remote with a waypoint button, but this idea is pretty wicked in itself.

That's why I'd prefer a lanyard with a little waypoint button. It is a neat idea tho....obviously from a fishnerd. ;)

But guys will possibly lose a lanyard lol

it’s cool that there is an app to use as well, perfect way to steal all your buddies waypoints when in his boat!

Minnkota has had a waypoint button on the remote (lanyard or clip) for quite a few years via the link system.

A single waypoint button on a lanyard? .....big remotes annoy me.

its on the i-link remote. You want a remote with just a single button?

If there was a Lowrance waypoint-only, single button remote, for like $40-$60, I'd buy it in a heartbeat, yes.

Basically, the button on the end of that rod, on a compact remote, hanging off my neck, or on my bibs.

Then again, with bow and stern networked together and the waypoint added to both...with touch screen...maybe that'd be a bit of overkill.

voice activated waypoint function? You just have to yell out "Mark". Coming to a boat near you 2022.
Would just suck when I fish with my buddy Mark

    Hahaha.

The more I think about it, the more I realize I've just been out of the boat too long.....

Hitting a waypoint with touch screen takes about 2 seconds...and that remote would need a bow waypoint button and stern waypoint button to function properly in my boat.

If that rod wasn't a gnarly color, I might've ordered it just cuz, but would I buy one at full retail..? Not likely.

It remains a neat idea, just one I likely won't take advantage of. A Walleye guy that sits at the console and jigs the same rod most of the season, could tap it on his knee while at the wheel...other than that, it's kind of a novelty I guess.

Back to the nerd memes Kraken! :tonguewink:

The niche market for these is in covertly stealing spots from guys while in their boats

I’m guessing it will work with the app as well,
So just bury your phone away in your bag and buddy won’t have any idea lol

    I can be, for sure.

Can't wait to get the boat into the garage and customize everything for how I fish. Great way to socially isolate

Congrats on the new pad Mike, nothing like having a garage to put your boat in and keep it away from the elements and meth heads. We moved 2 years ago in June and it has made the fall to winter transition so much less stressful.

Is your new garage heated and insulated? Mine is not but I would like to so I can work out there in the dead of winter but at the same time I have a "fishing room" in the basement that all my rods and tackle gets stored in during the winter and I spend lots of time working on stuff in there so I could probably get by and save money not heating the garage.
