I did a lot of research on trolling motors before I purchased my xi5 2 years ago. One of the things I remember is if the motor has a digital circuit, you can run the motor at different voltages. For example: A 36 volt motor can run on 12 24 or 36 volts. The digital circuit detects the voltage and simply adjusts to the lower # trust.

But you can not hook a 24 volt motor to 36 volt and expect higher trust. You'll blow the circuit.

I had a transom mount 24 volt motor on my old boat. I ran it at 12 volt the first 2 years I did it because I had this silly notion in my head that I would get more mileage out the batteries if I drained one battery then switch to the other one. Live and learn...

If the motor is analog, it can't switch nor detect the voltage.

The motor for sale here is digital....

Pretty high end technology if it does it automatically , I woulda thought you’d have to program or set a switch. Do you know what thrust it would run off 12v ?

    With the Xi5 it's...

    55 at 12v.
    80 at 24v.
    105 at 36v.

The first summer I got my Xi5 one of my batteries crapped oh on me while I was on LM. I disconnected one battery and ran the motor on 12v the rest of the afternoon. No issues at all.

A month or so later I had 2 new AGM trolling batteries...

Ernie, did you notice the steering slow down at all on 12v? I did research on this as well awhile back, and while I couldn't find any info on the Xi5, apparently a Terrova will run on lower volts at less thrust, but the steering slows down as well. If one did run a 36v motor on 24v and you lost steering response, it would be quite unfortunate.
