eye appeal and precise, what more could a angler ask for!!!

I beta tested the hecla/grindstone map, it’s gonna help some “make sense” of some things as well as reveal some stuff that’s going to be new to a lot of people!!! The double edged sword of good mapping is that “secret spots” aren’t too secret after they’ve been mapped, but it also takes pressure off some areas too, maybe there will only be 100 boats at the light house may long lol

Great mapping as always and will buying this upgrade soon! My secret spot in the Hecla area sticks out like a sore thumb LOL. My wife and I were at Hecla and she points at a boat and asks if that is mapping…yep.

But I think you forgot to tell us about North Cross Bay map:tonguewink: no worries I think we have enough mapped to cover our needs but more would be nice. A nice AEM map to hang on the cabin wall would be way cool though.

Thanks @Dave - a bunch more data to be processed and released in the spring. Not Cross Bay, but I am 99% sure there will be a bunch of water you are interested in ;)

Exactly what I was thinking, the spots stick out like a sore thumb. !!!

Looks like it is time to move up and go with AEM. I do not really want to purchase a Lowrance unit since I already have Garmin and a humming bird. Does anyone use an Ipad for AEM?

I think a fair number of people use our maps via the Avenza Maps app on iPads on the boat. The screens of iPpads leave a little bit to be desired in terms of viewability in bright sunlight, and of course water intrusion is a bit of a concern. I think there may be better tablet solutions out there, but I haven't done the research. Maybe someone on CFF knows more about this and can chime in.

Alternatively, you could also consider selling one of your existing units and buying a Lowrance. That really is the best option if you want AEM.

I use a Samsung Active Pro with the Avenza App on my boat in summer and snowmobile in winter. 10" ,IP68 rating and comes with a rugged protective case. And yes, glare can be a bit of a problem some days but not a deal breaker.

Thanks @KDueck ….did you have the Samsung already or did you buy specifically for use on boat and snowmobile?

I bought it specifically to run my AEM. Has been very accurate. Loving it!

Yeah my Helix may have to go. There is nothing more it can do than any Lowrance unit. I do have a Samsung phone and will be upgrading it soon and will take that into consideration.

I will have to pry the Garmin away from my wife's cold dead hand. lol So needless to say if the Garmin goes than I go. :) She REALLY likes this new technology.

    Thanks for your help.

As always, Jaret (@EYEhigh89 ) at Anchor Marine will be happy to help anybody as the exclusive source for in-store chip upgrades.

    anchor marine chip upgrades 2022.jpg

If getting to Anchor Marine doesn't work, upgrades can be ordered off our website (order/pay online, send us pics of current chip including one of it destroyed, we mail out new chip). Grab an AEM toque of your choice for $10 with any upgrade (or new chip) purchase *while supplies last*! ;)
