Stole this from that other site. Gtrat deals!

"They have a lot of fish finders 1/2 price along with other fishing items. When you view fish finders online, you'll see yellow In-Store Clearance banners for the store closest to you. You can change your Preferred store and look around at what other locations have for in-store clearance.

I bought a Helix 5 (just sonar, convert for ice) for $159 or $180 all in. There are Lowrance and other Helix models if you move around stores. Check out Kenora if you have a cottage out there.

You can pay online for it and go pick it up."

Check a couple of stores before buying. The Minn Kota verraro in Selkirk is $ 699.99 but $899.99 at regent. There may be other items like that.

Picked this up today because the price was right, $214 before tax. I want something just to put on the sled for using AEM and then in summer will throw on the bow of the boat. I'm not sure if I'm going to keep it though as I think the Elite 5 from Overtons would be better for the little extra dough.

I have a question, I found 1 Elite 5 chirp at CT for $349. Overtons has the Elite 5 HDI for $269 US and I can get it shipped to the border for about $370 CDN. Which one is better?

I will more than likely be selling it or returning it Cheebers. Deciding on the 2 above. Let me know if you want it.

The CHIRP is the better unit.

Pass on the finder... boat repairs gonna cost me more than anticipated

Would that be the same ducer as my Elite 9 Chirp? How old is it?

Doesn't the DSI only do down imaging? If so I don't think you can use the ducer from your chirp or use it as an ice fishing sonar.

The elite 5 DSI can NOT be used as an ice fishing unit.

Thanks Ernie but I'll have to pass. While I plan on only putting the unit on the sled for mapping and then on the bow of the boat, I may want to turn it into and ice unit and sell one of my Marcums. I also want a backup ducer for the boat. ;)

No problem Tony. Just thought I'd offer... ;)

Yes, the Elite 5 DSI has GPS, mapping cababilities, and above all, it takes AEM cards! 2 Gig max. It's a super entry level unit to start mapping at an affordable price.

Is that the HDI listed for $269? That one was the one I was considering until I found the Elite Chirp for $350. That one shows the rebate to be $100 putting the unit at $169 but when you click the link it shows it as a $50 rebate. Ut would still be a bit cheaper than the Chirp but the Chirp takes the bigger cards I believe.

DSI (and original Elite 5) restricted to 2 GB cards....not sure what the upper limit on HDI units is, but it might be identical to the CHIRP. Both can definitely use 4 GB (standard AEM card size).

(Sorry if I confused this issue in a previous post....I know I got my models confused at one point).
