100% if you can’t catch a smallie on that you should take up knitting!!!

Many yrs ago, a Berkley smoke tube was a standby, always had one tied on.

Honestly haven't fished a tube steadily in years. Can't really say why, other than I've learned to love many other presentations, so the tube gets way less airtime.

On a couple bodies of water, when the wind was right, I used to love dragging a tube, Great Lakes style, over extended points and humps. With the right rod, I could pop the tube free of the (steady) snags. The bites were often just sudden weight, rather than a pop your wrist kinda bite.

Pumpkinseed powertube was my fave for smallies. Got my pb 5-2 on one.

I have gone away from tubes during open-water for the most part also....they still catch fish, but I feel other presentations tend to out perform them.

    What’s everyone’s top 3-5 spring presentations?
    Smallie or Largie?

I’ve spent about ZERO time on spring largies so I’ll be taking notes on those lol

for smallies I usually go with,
Tube, Senko, Jerkbait. Not necessarily in that order

My 3 biggest SM: 1-Nopiming Lake, 2-Western MB lake and 3- Lac du Bonnet Lake; all caught on this tube. Yes I have and use other tackle but I am super confident with this bait.

    Depends which part of Spring.

Bait selection is primarily based on water temp, each species for myself, has a different starting line up, depending on water temp......and since I get flack about my long winded posts, and being a bit competitive, I'll co-sign with Craig-- "A 5 O' Diamonds is all you need!" :p

<<--- That, is the "for some reason" I hardly fish tubes anymore.

Ok now I don't feel so bad!
I initially thought the Kraken had gotten into spongebobs liquor cabinet and had some special sauce.... couldn't make a whiff of sense about that pic...
Then I read MB's comment above and ding ding ding! Lights went on.

    Brilliant pic, Kraken!

K, so I was kinda on track.

The state of this thread is tip top :p

On the note of Largies--- We reallllllly need a good fun Largemouth lake around here. Caddy lake chain would be awesome! So much rice!

Far too much red tape for the Gov't to get it done....is the sad part.

Tough to find a Largemouth in LOTW that doesn't already have a hole in it's lip.
