@Mike B. So what connectors should I use? I had to change out the plug because cbprov needed the one off the trolling motor I got from him. I went to CargoEast and picked up a male and female end. They both came with those uellow connectors, which I was planning on using. Problem was the existing wire in the boat was a bigger gauge and wouldn't fit into the connector so that's why I decided to, in my mind, do it proper and solder the joint.

I put a plug at the bow that's meant for a troll motor connection. I think it's just the standard SeaSense brand.....any marine dealer should have something

Ya that's what I got, both male and female plug but I had to connect to existing wire on trolling motor and on boat. Soldered the one on the trolling motor and now I'm not confident with that connection, especially since I soldered it, lol.

I also gave those connections a decent tug and they were solid.

Well had my hook on the ice for the first time yesterday/ today and absolutely love it but two things I noticed it takes a hell of a long time to turn on and I also had the unit freeze on me twice any idea why it would freeze?

You only need to turn it on once so no big deal really, when moving just press power and enter, that will put you in standby mode. Once you need to turn it on again, just press power and it will instantly be on.

    - make sure you are in ice mode
    - make sure your software is up to date
    - I keep mine is auto sensitivity, then adust sensitivity from there
    - thin vertical lines will appear when another transducer is turned on in close proximity. Interferance can be dialed out with sensitivity adjustment
    - make sure to select transducer pti-wbl
    - I keep my colour scheme on white background

My hook 5 doesnt freeze up or take long super long to boot up, but a friend of mine with a hook 7 has had his freeze up a few times after doing the update. So he did the update again and its fine now. Maybe something happened in the update process. Not sure.

Well I'm one that fiddles with the settings on my finders A LOT.I'm continually looking to improve the output and finding another Easter egg...

That said, I've found that the sonar screen will freeze every now-n-again for approximately 30 seconds if you have your unit set to "trolling".
Set it to "ice fishing" or "shallow water". Both should fix your sonar screen freezing issue.

    Hey @Little Spoon

I'm 99% sure I got this screen freezes figured out. I spend a lot of time today trying to recreate the issue. I believe I've found it.

To fix the issue... Turn down your ping rate. 1 or 2 clicks is all it takes. I managed to recreate the issue numerous times. Every single time the fix was 1 or 2 clicks of lowering the ping rate. Even when setting the transducer and fishing mode to different options, the lowering of the ping rate fixed the issue every time.
