Great idea about cutting out the foam to fit more tackle trays. As of right now I just put my tools between the trays on the side. Pliers, scale, etc all nicely wedge between them.

Awesome thanks guys. I don't have any rods longer than 32" currently but just nice to know the option is there if I need it. To be honest, this case is complete overkill for me right now but I feel like I probably won't see a better price on a new unit so had to get in on it.

That and the story that inmate told me about a guy running his over with his durango sold me. :p

Might be overkill, but as you get more expensive combos, tackle, and tools it will save you money and frustration down the road.

Yep, that's exactly how Im looking at it. Right now I don't have anything that's too expensive but I have broken a few tips already just transporting. I will have extra room for a few friends combos and expect this thing to get heavy use on the lake and when we get out on sleds.

It'll be nice to ditch my tacklebox also in favor of this. Currently just using a soft berkley bag with blades for whatever species I'm targeting.

I can vouch for Clive running over his. Shit his pants, case and rods undamaged.

lake-fisher... do you know if the deal gets better with more people (e.g. 10, 20)? I think people in the past paid something like $110 USD in a group buy a few years ago, but I may be mistaken.

I looked some old threads on the ice case group buys. It looks like they paid 146 US shipped. So it was only 3 dollars cheaper on a previous group buy, but there were more buyers then...

You've still got a bit of time... Why not wait a couple more weeks before you place the order. You might get a couple more buyers in that time. Might bring the price per item down a bit too.

If the price goes down with a bigger order, then I'm sure more people are likely to join in. Biggest limiting factors I can see is how many we would have to buy and any problems that would be faced in getting them to Winnipeg. I can imagine bringing in a couple of cases would be straightforward, but if the number increased then would there be import tariffs, etc.? I don't think so because it's made in the US, but I'm far from being an expert on the matter.

Cam, you're probably the most insightful on these topics. Can you provide us with your thoughts?

Worst case scenario is gst and pst (no duties) would need to be paid at the border. I dont really want to bring a bunch over though. They are huge... Wont have enough room...

When I did a group buy I want to say we paid $110-120 USD per case, but I ordered 12 of them. Shipped them to Pembina and I had a very full truck. Just taxes at the border.

Hey guys not a big contributor on this site, but do enjoy reading it and appreciate the effort that has been put into it. What would you think about a few of us readers (low contributors ) throwing in a few bucks each to get Ernie a thank you gift for his efforts ? I would be willing to throw in 10 bucks to start it off. Cam is this something you could set up I know your good with this kind of stuff. Hope this works out and thanks Ernie for all you do.

Lionel is correct. Taxes only. Cases are made in the USA. We had 28 on our order and got them much cheaper. But the dollar was almost at par then.

Pungie, spin this off into a new post in the coffee talk. So we don't hijack the op's group buy
