should probably just get some bear bangers and scare em away , instead of dropping them in your yard.

How do you fire them? Shotgun? Looking online looks like you need a launcher.

    Have used a 12g shell/banger &
Pen style launcher…can also get flares for pen launcher, good thing to have in the boat.
Bear spray works ok too, if you have the balls to let them get real close.
Best to just be bear smart and stay away/keep them away.

be careful about shooting to kill - (my experience) unless you have authorization from CO’s, you are deemed poaching - UNLESS there is clear evidence that they are destroying your property or safety issues. Even then, you still have to report it, and CO’s will file report. Call them for the fine details.
Dont even think of taking galls or claws.

If you are going to use bear bangers out of a shotgun, practice a few rounds with them before you need them. It’s important to know how far they will shoot.

I witnessed first hand someone who misjudged range and trajectory. Sent one right over the beat’s back. It exploded behind the bear and caused a startled bear to run full speed TOWARDS the person who fired the round. It was very close to being a really bad situation.

Again, speaking from experience, one of the best bear defences is a pissy weiner dog….
