I've made my own laker rods, one was at one time a 5'-6" MH Berkley Series one, cut the handle off and cut the blank back to create a 48" rod. Inserted the blank back into the handle with epoxy, makes for a great laker rod. Did the same using an older Lightning rod, 2 of my favourite laker rods.

Ernie I hope you have a good drag system for that broomstick! Much easier fighting a fish with a rod that can handle some headshakes and pumps. I used one of those super stiff ones for 1 fish then trashed it, utter garbage. I use a 36" and 42" MH Fenwick Elite Tech now, great rods when they come on sale for 30-35 a couple times a year!

I was planning on using a sianna 2500 on that broomstick I got. But since then a member has offered to lend me their rod! So I think I should be good for our first outing. I wouldn't be using that broomstick except for a backup rod.

    You guys are awesome!
